Parquet Wood Flooring in Northampton
Parquet is a decorative type of wood flooring that originated in France. It is often referred to as mosaic since it is composed of a multitude of small wooden slats. This allows the flooring to be laid in geometrical patterns that can range from ready-made simple shapes to customized elaborate arrangements.
Different grains, shades, and species of wood can also be used to accent specific areas or enhance the room as a whole. Contrary to the complex designs of parquet wood floors, they are quite easy to maintain. In order to keep these long lasting floors looking like new, sweeping or vacuuming should be performed regularly, spills should be cleaned immediately, and plastic or fabric glides should be placed under furniture to prevent scratches.
As with any wooden floor, it is recommended that mopping be done only when necessary and with very little moisture; standing water can cause damage. More detailed maintenance can be obtained from the manufacturer or installer.
